Hello everyone! I’m hoping to brighten your winter morning and bring a smile to your face! I’m very pleased to introduce you to a close friend, a lady who is one of the most positive and uplifting people I’ve ever known. Whether teaching, painting, or writing, she is a dynamic witness for the Lord Jesus Christ. She shares her heart and soul through her art, and she brings great wisdom and inspiration to all who know her.

This lady is my dear friend, artist and writer extraordinaire, Adele Bower. Here are a few links to her magical work:

What makes Adele Bower so special? First of all, she was born to be an artist. Her father was a very famous artist, and she undoubtedly inherited his talent! She is a graduate of the Art Institute of Houston. In her career she has studied under many great artists, including William Hook. Over the years she has received numerous awards and acclaim for her work.

Adele married David Bower at a young age and has now been happily married to her high school sweetheart for over sixty years! They have three children and six grandchildren. As a young wife, although she had been previously baptized in the church, she began to question her faith. At that time she began an intensive personal study. Through seeking God she found a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and has since lived her life as His devoted servant. Later, her three children were born, and she is thankful today that Christ came into her life prior to that time. Today she influences many with her wisdom, her spiritual insight, and her love for the Lord.

Adele has written and taught four Bible studies for women and has led classes in both her church and her home. She has done freelance work for churches and other charitable organizations. Her husband, David Bower, (http://rdavidbower.com/), is a writer, a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, and an online missionary for Global Media Outreach.

What is Adele’s philosophy of life? If you were to ask, Adele would tell you that her mission is to please the Lord, to make Him proud of her and her work. In fact, her favorite Bible verse is this:

“Whatever I do, whether in word or deed, I will do it all in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him…” Colossians 3:17.

In addition to her numerous fine art paintings, Adele has written and illustrated two delightful children’s books: Emmie’s Birthday Party, and Emmie’s First Journal. Emmie is a ten year old who’s learning some life lessons and growing in her faith. These books are available at www.amazon.com and local bookstores. (Some have suggested that Emmie is Adele’s alter ego, but Adele says not.) Adele says that these books represent a statement of her Christian faith and values, and she hopes they will be a blessing to others!

Although I’m neither an artist nor a critic, I know how I feel when I look at Adele’s work. All her paintings, sketches, and illustrations are uplifting to me. I’m always struck by her skillful use of brilliant color, humor, and whimsy. Other descriptives that come to mind are jubilant, joyous, comical, spunky, and just downright fun!

I’ve known Adele and her wonderful husband David for several years now. One of the things I love the most is that they’re cat people! And for Adele, the cats are perfect subjects for her art! Over the years I’ve come to know their Abby Cat, who, although quite shy, has become quite a celebrity among Adele’s friends and fans. In fact, Abby Cat is thinking about setting up her own fan page on Facebook. Here is the lovely Abby Cat, as painted by Adele:

Abby Cat has been the subject of many drawings and the object of a great deal of attention! Here’s another lovely sketch of the one and only Abby Cat:

I’d like to share some more of Adele’s paintings, hoping they’ll brighten your day. The “Polka Dot Plate” is another one of my favorites:

I am so happy to share Adele’s story with you today. I thank God for bringing her into my life as my Bible study teacher. The last months have been challenging for me, and like most, I’m learning to trust God and lean more fully on His sovereign will and strong shoulder. Adele has taught me a great deal about having complete trust and confidence in God. I will close with this verse, which is one of God’s most precious promises:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” Prov. 4:5-6

I truly hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know my friend and teacher, Adele Bower. May her life of faith inspire each of us! And may her talent be a blessing to you, as it is to me!
