“O Holy Night,
The stars are brightly shining~
It is the night of the Dear Savior’s Birth.”
December 24, at Houston’s Second Baptist Church, North Campus….
It was a Christmas Eve candlelight service, and my family was sitting in the third or fourth row.
It was dark in the sanctuary, but I noticed you sitting right in front of me.
You looked like a handsome young dad, and your daughter might have been about thirteen years old..
I’m guessing at her age, because it was very dark in the room ~ but not so dark that I couldn’t see your silhouettes.
And YOU TWO captured my eye and my heart!
The choir began singing “O Holy Night.”
“O Holy Night, the stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Savior’s birth….”
While the soloist sang, the two of you began to sway to the music in perfect rhythm. You both moved side to side, mesmerized by the piercing beauty of the song. Neither of you were aware of the other’s gentle motion.
It was a sight to behold…And although the music was breathtaking, my heart was genuinely captured by the sight of the two of you.
Although we don’t know one another, I’ll never forget you.
You and your daughter together…
glory shines all around and through us- beautiful Becky! thanks for sharing this with me!
