And so Christmas 2013 joins the “Parade of Christmas pasts…”
The anniversary of Christ’s birth ~ the single most significant event in the history of man. The Christ child, born in a humble stable ~ the Word of God, now Immanuel, God with us! Such an event fills us with amazement and gratitude for the greatest Gift the world has ever known.
Our celebration of Christmas was first of all a celebration of Jesus’ coming to earth..
On the other hand,
The pecan pie was soupy, the cookie press broke..
The microwave went out, the disposal sprung a leak, Dad was sick, the children ran a fever…
But the celebration went on…
The Christmas hats were brought out.
There were happy faces all around~
The cousins getting silly again,
The funny old stories retold,
The old videos as hilarious as ever..
The big trays of old photos being passed around the room
Reminders of those now in heaven..
Reinforcing our shared history…
Sparking reminiscences, hilarity, and tears.
All the younger ones being measured again on the pantry door
(Even my college aged nephew!)
Sweet family time.
The Lord helps me to remember this above all else when everything is going wrong: He is just the same. He gives meaning to the storm, comfort in the chaos, joy in the night. Though life is filled with ups and downs, God always gives a silver lining to the cloud, a song in the night. The smile of a child, the hug of a beloved family member…
As a believer in Christ, you can know the joy of Christ’s coming every day, throughout the year.
And love is so much sweeter when you’ve been saved through God’s love!
He says,
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness.” Jeremiah 31:3
Come to Jesus! Know Him. Let Him fill your days with everlasting joy, everlasting purpose. He came to earth for you! His love ~ the love that came down from heaven at Christmas ~ will revolutionize your life!
Heavenly Father, I pray that You would touch the hearts of those who do not know you and draw them to Yourself. These are troubled times for many, Father, and we ask for your comfort and healing mercies for all who need You the most today. May those of us who know You personally share the Good News of Christ’s love daily. May we all live our lives in such a way as to bring glory to Your Name, day by day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
This was breath taking!! Such a gift!!! May God fulfill in 2014……
Thank you for reading! You know how much I love my precious family ~ they’re your family too! Have a wonderful year! Blessings!!
