The Cat extends a paw…. |
Fellow cat lovers, today I’m sharing some vital information with you. What you see in the photo below is not a fist bump. I know it appears to be ~ but you must understand that The Cats have their own unique style of communication.
“The paw of interspecies friendship” |
And this interaction is what my husband has designated “the paw of interspecies friendship.” See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interspecies_communication#Human-nonhuman_communication
It’s only offered to someone worthy of The Cats’ friendship and respect, but once it’s offered~ and accepted~ you know you’re very special. Not everyone who interacts with the feline population is given this opportunity; only those deemed worthy are chosen. When this interaction occurs, it means you have been accepted as an equal, a friend, one of them..well, nearly one of them…
“Let me in! You hate me!” |
It’s no secret that The Cats have their own unique perspective on the world. They don’t come when you call them, nor do they spend their time seeking your company. They often ignore you, unless it’s feeding time. They like to lie on the computer keyboard while you’re using it. They may claw your furniture, destroy your belongings….
“You’re mine!”
|
Cats, like many other animals, have pheromone-oozing scent glands that are mostly used to communicate with other cats. The most important glands are located on the tail, the side of the body, and on that sweet little face. Thus, when they’re rubbing up against you, those glands are being engaged to leave a unique scent on you! That means that you belong to THE CAT.
But IF and WHEN The Cat offers the paw of interspecies friendship, things are going to be different.
And your world will never be the same. Fellow cat lovers, I hope you will know the joy of receiving the interspecies paw of friendship. You may be in the process of being evaluated for this high experience. I hope you “make the cut.” Be ready to relish your interspecies friendship if offered. You COULD be one of the few.
Now as for a dog ~ well, that’s a whole different story…

A fun blog. Yes, Becky, you know cats.
Thank you, Adele, for your comment! You and I are very lucky to have been accepted by them, aren’t we?
